Top 10 Countries with Fastest Internet Speed
Today we want internet broadband at an exceptional speed. Due to this race, the Internet service provider are now giving internet service at an unbelievable speed. Usually we use different websites and software to check our internet speed. Speedtest.net is one the most popular site to check the broadband speed.
A recent survey about top internet speed users came in public. Its surprising to know that Two Asian countries are on the top of the table, Who have the highest downloading speed. South Korea and Japan are on 1st and 2nd position respectively.
Top 10 Countries
Following are the top ten countries of the world with respect to their Broadband Internet speeds:
-
South Korea 17187 kbps
-
Japan 16,365 kbps
-
Lithuania 11,295 kbps
-
Sweden 11,280 kbps
-
Romania 10,236 kbps
-
Latvian 9,782 kbps
-
Bulgaria 9,074 kbps
-
Netherlands 8,734 kbps
-
Germany 7,447 kbps
-
Russian Federation 7,260 kbps
These results tell us that it does not matter how large or small your country is. The technology can be anywhere. In comparison to United States (U.S) on area basis, these countries are nothing. But U.S. in no where in the Top 10. United states have only download speed of 6,198 kbps. Korea’s broadband speed is almost 3 times than that of United States.
wait until intel mass produces optical routers. the internet will be 100x faster. go, tech, go.
How is the US not in the top 10? I thought we controlled the internet?
The US is not in the Top 10 because it’s huge… It’s impossible to average a high speed with that many users…
How come I live in the States and have a 48.76Mbps download / 48.12Mbps upload speed, and it doesn’t make it into the top ten? I get well over double the speed of South Korea.
@Confused. lol, that’s the AVERAGE per country. Here in Romania you can get 100 and 200 Mbps and they are introducing 1 GBps soon.
One big reason countires like the US and UK are not in the top 10 is that these coutries have massive copper networks that phone lines and broadband run on and it’s a huge job to upgrade these to fibre optic networks. Some, arguably, less developed counties have built these networks more recently so are much better placed to roll our superfast broadband.
It’s also going to be interesting to see how LTE and WiMax mobile broadband change these stats as potentially this will be the fastest way for some people to access the internet in the very near future (and even now in a few cases).
amazing stuff thanx
@Confused: You need to stop being so proud about America.
100 Mbps internet connection is becoming obsolete in Romania and people are already asking for more, ISP are making plans on introducing higher internet speeds in 2011.
Oh and another thing, everywhere you go here, there’s Wireless, and it’s free, everywhere.
Oh and another thing, a small country like Macedonia has 99% free wireless coverage across the country.
I’ve been to U.S, paid 5$ to access wireless – LOL.
“Its surprising to know that Two Asian countries are on the top of the table, Who have the highest downloading speed. South Korea and Japan are on 1st and 2nd position respectively.”
Err, it’s not surprising at all, South Korea and Japan have had super fast internet for years! This is not news..
YAY!!! Lithuania has bronze

Lol, this forgets upload speeds- if combined Lithuania is second, around 3 times the speed of UK
The US is SLOW : re typical American thinking, we control the internet. news flash no you do not control the internet. there is a whole world outside of America but i am guessing this is news to you
lol!! korean people and japanese people are born to play online games,..
you know that saying:”Die the korean way: gaming”
after reading this article and comments i feel like i am a human thrown to this world with no care…..
thrown to a lawless land…corruption in air…..corruption everywhere….why am saying this lets see::
i have tried my best to get an internet connection in india at a speed of 4Mbps….
>> no issues you will get it but speed will reduce to 256 kbps once you have downloaded 15 GB…. i said aawww……
>> then i thought about it….price was way high but still agreed called them guys up to give me a cxn….they said oooh sorry sir we dont have airtel service in your area…..i said fuckkkk…inki maa ki
>>>i live in caital of india and the best company have no infrastructure in my area ….let me tell you they cover only 30%.
so this is the condition of my country….wish i was born in romania….wish….just a wish….
im from malaysia and have 384kbps internet connection…..maybe top slowest internet speed in the world……..
Now Romania is on third place. I pay 8 euros for 100 Mbps and bonus internet stick(7.2Mbps) for my laptop without download restriction.
@kaki, 384KBPS, I am surprised that malaysia having a Internet Infrastructure …..!!
lolz, no offence , just a joke. nobody talked about 3G, In india, service provider promises to provide the internet service at 3.6 MBPS ,7.2 MBPS , 21 MBPS. (3G) , However max I have used till now is 3.2MBPS…..
Shaw cable has always been excellent and certainly haven’t come upon anything faster in the US, Asia, Europe, Africa or the Middle East because I’ve had to put up with wireless garbage. Check this out: 250MB downloads per second and 15 MB uploads from SHAW in Western Canada. Ten years ago I was downloading songs in less than a tenth of a second but speed has generally dropped everywhere since the inception of wireless. The speeds are slow for many jurisdictions in the US and Canada because for example, my apartment in San Gabriel, CA (Los Angeles) is only served by Earthlink wireless which is awful. I was surprised by the lack of choice there and believe it is common to many areas.
u all want faster speeds to download ur torrent stuff and u knows it
Im in iceland and im with over 100 mb per sec
The reason Eastern Europe has very fast internet is that torrents and other illegal stuff here is not controlled. It’s illegal, but nobody really controls it.
Romania upgraded its network this year and we have 100Mbps up/down anywhere on the internet.
So I guess 2012 will be our turn :>
And what’s the problem with torrents ? Everything should be free on the internet.
I’m getting 200 Mbit/s down and 100 Mbit/s up here in Aschaffenburg, Germany. Deutsche Telekom is the best ISP in Germany, I recommend them to everybody who wants to move there.
Pretty surprising the U.S. is not on top of the list, they invented the internet…
you know what….US might not be on the top 10, but at least we are not chewing on the optical cable to satisfy our hunger…can the Romanjians say the same ??? They are number 3, but 3/4 of the country still hungry !!!
Romania is growing fast… And its not a hungry country. Every country has its poor people, as well as rich people. Its obvious that you don’t know anything about Romania, that’s why you said hat you said… I am sick of movie scenes from american movies with homeless people… But that’s normal… Every country has ups and downs
adrian:
you can’t chew optical cable… it’d kill you… and i don’t know why american people thinks, that the USA is the most awesome country, USA is a brainwashed country…
